Presidio County Courthouse (Marfa)

star

Architect:  Alfred Giles

Year Built: 1886

The Presidio County Courthouse is located in Marfa, Texas.  It is a beautiful structure inside and out, and among my very favorite courthouses in Texas.

Note the similarities between the lady justice in Presidio County and that in Wilson County (Floresville).  Both courthouses were designed by Giles.

Giles also designed the standing courthouses in Wilson, Goliad, Webb, Kendall (1909 facade addition only), Brooks and Live Oak Counties, as well as the Pioneer Memorial Library in Fredericksburg (formally the Gillespie County Courthouse). He also designed the following courthouses that either burned or are no longer standing: Llano (1885 – burned in 1892), Kerr (1886 – burned in 1925), Guadalupe (1889)
